Obituary for Elizabeth Ann Selby

ELIZABETH ANN SELBY, affectionately known as “Ann” or “Mother Ann”, departed this life on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. She was born May 6, 1947 to Galina Savage and the late William “Bill” Wharton.

She was educated in the public schools of Virginia and New Jersey. Ann accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of First Baptist Church in Mappsville, Virginia, under the pastorate of Rev. James I. Boyd. She also attended Miracle Temple of Deliverance Church in Parksley, Virginia, under the leadership of Pastor Sallie Heath.

Ann was employed at Tyson Foods, Inc. for many years where she later retired. She was also a part-time associate at Roses.

Ann possessed a heart of love and was full of laughter. She always wore a smile and her laugh was contagious.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Anthony Wayne Selby and Savanta Craig Selby; two grandchildren, Monica Selby and Savanta Selby, Jr.; her mother, Galina Savage; four sisters, Virgie Gorham, Shelia Goodman (Johnnie), Sharon Savage, and Coretta Ellison (Anthony); one brother, Robert Savage (Glynis); one aunt, Linda Selby; four uncles, Alvin Selby (Gerry), Ruben “Butch” Selby, Luther Wharton (Bessie) and Cornell Wharton (Dora); four nephews; three nieces; and a host of great-nephews, great-nieces, two adopted sons, Terry and Trent Cropper, other relatives, and friends.
