ROBERT JUDE HAMMER, loving spouse of Helen Wilmot Hammer, passed away at home on 11/19/11. He was born in Great Bend Kansas to June Keenan Hammer and Carl Hammer on October 23, 1940. He grew up on a farm outside of Ellinwood Kansas, went to St Joseph grade school and graduated Ellinwood High School in 1958. Robert attended Fort Hays State University and obtained his BA and MA in political science, and then attended Kansas University and received his Juris Doctor. He served in the Air Force Reserves and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He practiced law (in Bloomington Il., Omaha Ne., Kansas City Mo., and Houston Tx. ) for 31 years, specializing in oil and gas law. Robert had a love of education and history and was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. He enjoyed animals, loved his family and friends and the mountains of Colorado, where he retired in Loveland Colorado in 2000. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist church in Loveland. Robert married Helen Wilmot in 1982 in Kansas City Missouri. He was preceded in death by parents Carl and June. He is survived by wife Helen (Loveland Co), son Thomas Trussell (Kansas City, Mo), Julie and Bart Pickard (Dallas Tx), Aimee Bambace (Loveland Co), and Timothy Jones and longtime girlfriend Corey Love (Denver Co). He has 5 Grandchildren , Sisters Patricia McKibben (Muskegon Mi) and Shelly Hammer (Cleveland Oh). Mass for Christian funeral celebration for Robert J Hammer will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 9am. Inurnment will be at Loveland Burial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St John the Evangelist Adoration Chapel Fund in care of Allnutt Funeral Service.
