Wilbur Roy Obituary

Wilbur E. Roy, of Wynne, Arkansas and formerly of Caldwell, Arkansas, departed this life Tuesday, December 13, 2011, in Wynne, at the age of Ninety-Eight. He was born, May 8, 1913, in Caldwell, Arkansas, the son of John Allen and Lucy Mae (Brown) Roy. Mr. Roy was of the Baptist Faith, served in the US Army during WW II where he received a Purple Heart and Five Bronze Stars. He worked as a farmer, was a member of the American Legion and the Art and Craft Guild. He enjoyed bingo, wrestling, an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Bertha (Sampley) Roy, two brothers: Lee Roy and Jay Roy, one sister: Mae Clark and a granddaughter: Cheryl Cummings. Roy is survived by: daughter: Linda Cummings Crossen of Wynne, Arkansas, three grandchildren: Andrea Shipley of Collinsville, Illinois, Traci Epps of Wynne, Arkansas, Christopher Cummings of Vanndale, Arkansas, ten great-grandchildren, one niece, six great nieces and 2 great nephews.. Family request memorials to the American Legion. Graveside services will be conducted, Friday, December 16, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at Hughes Cemetery in Forrest City, Arkansas.
