Sonya Marie Ragland was born July 25, 1966 in Columbus, Ohio. Growing up, she shared many special moments with her childhood friends as they would often "play" church or put on talent shows for the neighbors. An outstanding student, Sonya attended Columbus Public Schools and graduated from Northland High School. She earned her Associate Degree in Applied Sciences from Columbus State Community College and a Bachelor of Science from Franklin University. Sonya was an employee of Chase for fifteen years, during which time she worked her way up to Vice President of Home Ownership. In 2009, she accepted a promotion which resulted in her relocation to Houston, Texas. Sonya was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter and sister. She loved her family immensely and always made time for family events as well as spending time with her friends. She attended Abounding Praise Worship Center. On Saturday, December 10, 2011, Sonya passed away at the Kindred Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Helen Doyle and Norman G. Ferguson, maternal grandparents, M.C. and Nellie Draper, and nephew Kamari I. Doyle. Sonya leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Robert L. Ragland; daughter Charnese M. Ragland; son Robert L. Ragland, II; stepson Montez L. Ragland; stepfather Thomas L. Doyle, Sr. (Vernita); sister Tonya M. Richardson (Daryl); brother Thomas L. Doyle, Jr.; uncle Marvin C. Draper (Charlene); special friends Phala Talbert and Tina Spriggs; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Victory Deliverance Church, 1718 Myrtle Ave., where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the start of service. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
