It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, William Wayne Tucker. Wayne died peacefully at home on Sunday, January 15.
Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife Dianne, daughters Natalie (Alain) and Adrienne (Arthur) and his precious grandson Theo. Wayne is also survived by his brother and fishing companion Gary (Roberta) and family and sister Eleanor (Fred) and family. Wayne was predeceased by his parents William (Bill) and Margaret Tucker.
Growing up in the Weston area, Wayne attended Weston School, Cecil Rhodes, Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and the University of Winnipeg. He received his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Manitoba in 1967.
Wayne began his teaching career at John Henderson Junior High in 1967, moving to River East Collegiate in 1976, where he was part of the Guidance Department until his retirement in 2002. Wayne was also involved with Student Council activities and coached volleyball for most of his career. Over the years, he thoroughly enjoyed all the interaction he had with his co-workers and students both inside and outside the classroom.
Wayne was a devoted husband and father. He spent many hours coaching and watching the girls’ soccer and volleyball games. Summer vacations spent traveling; camping, hiking and fishing were especially treasured family times.
The family would like to thank Wayne’s family physician, Dr. Doug Henry, and the many specialists that have provided Wayne with such good care over the years.
Wayne’s quiet countenance and quick wit will be missed by all who knew him.
