The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death of Mr. Gerard Duffe, age 80, of Blairsville who passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at his home. Mr. Duffe was born in Hempstead, New York on September 1, 1931 to the late Christopher & Stella Wienkle Duffe. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Gerard moved to Blairsville in 1994 from Miami, Florida. He served 25 years as a Police Officer for the City of Miami Police Department and 10 years as a Sergeant for the Broward County Sheriff's Office. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glady "Babe" Duffe, Parents, Brother, Kevin Duffe, Sister, Delores Moses and Grandson, Andrew Howard. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him but especially missed by his family: Daughter, Linda Kirby of Young Harris; Daughter & Son-in-Law, Susan & Bob Howard of Milton Florida; Daughter & Son-in-Law, Annie & Jack Powell of Blairsville; Grandchildren, Sue Ann Clayton, Jamie Blalock, Mary Plott, Elizabeth Guiterez, Melissa Perkins, Joseph Howard, Katie Williams, Ashley Powell, Abby Powell and Jack Connor Powell; and 9 Great Grandchildren. A private funeral service will be held at a later date.
