Mr. Harold Luther Mills, 91, of 3 Mills Avenue, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at CMC-NorthEast in Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, February 22, 2008, at McGill Baptist Church where he was a lifetime member. Dr. E. Steven Ayers will officiate. The body will lie in-state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. Mr. Mills was born April 19, 1916 in Concord. He was a son of the late William Luther Mills, Sr. and Alice Litaker Mills. He was a graduate of Winecoff High School. He was the former owner and operator of Mills Florist in Concord, Kannapolis, and Salisbury. Harold was a recognized member of the Lions Club and Past President of the Concord Lions Club. He was also a member of the NC Retail Florist Association and a founding member and past officer of the Florist Transworld Delivery (FTD). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, William L. Mills, Jr., and a sister, Helen Mills Readling. Mr. Mills is survived by his wife Audree Shore Mills; two brothers, Alec Mills and wife, Joanne of Rome, GA and Roy Mills and wife, Annie of Lexington; three sisters, Sarah Dayvault of Kannapolis, Nell Mills Phillips Mitchell of Treasure Island, FL and Dorothy "Dot" Steen and husband, Perry of Concord. He is also survived by his caregiver and family friend, David Piatt of Kannapolis.
