WILLIAM “WEDO” SANCHEZ William “Wedo” Sanchez age 63 of Raton, NM passed away Monday March 26, 2012 in Santa Fe, NM. He was born February 1, 1949 in Raton, NM, the son of Charlie and Clara Coca-Sanchez. Wedo was a coal miner, a member of UMWA and a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Louie and Robert Sanchez, sister Viola Bauler, mother-in-law Ofelia Maldonado and brother-in-laws Bob and David Maldonado. Wedo is survived by his wife, Shirley (Bernice) of the home, one daughter Donna Sanchez Pino and husband Ivan of Buena Vista, NM, two sons Robert Sanchez and wife Donna of Raton, NM, and Matthew Sanchez and companion Maria of Raton, NM. Two sisters Helen Cordova and husband Manuel of Cimarron, NM, and Lorraine “Tina” Quintana and husband Lencho of Mexico, two brothers Carlos Sanchez and wife Ruby of Pueblo West, CO, and Julian Sanchez and wife Delores of Cimarron, NM. Seven grandchildren, Ashley Acree, Tamara Sanchez, Bambi Garcia, Shania Sanchez, Tyler Hightower, Matthew Sanchez and Demarco Sanchez and three great grandchildren, Jade McClannahan, Charles Acree and Gabriel Perez. Visitation will be Wednesday March 28, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Thursday March 29, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00 A.M. with Father Daniel Balizan as the celebrant. Rite of Christian Burial will be in the Fairmont Cemetery in Raton. Arrangements and celebration of love for William “Wedo” Sanchez are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
