Obituary for Sister Mary Christopher Caputo OSF

Sister Mary Christopher Caputo, OSF, 78, of Mount Vernon, passed away on April 16, 2012. She was born on November 14, 1933 to Francesco and Angela (Raffaela) Caputo in New Rochelle, NY. She graduated from St. Gabriel's High School in New Rochelle. Sr. Mary received her B.S. in Education at Fordham University and her Master's in Elementary Education at Richmond College. She was certified in Special Education and education of the Emotionally Handicapped. Mary Christopher was a teacher at the Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe, at St. Elizabeth's at Mt. Loretto in Staten Island, St. Aloysius in Staten Island, and at St. Patrick's School in Carslile, PA. She was Parish Minister at Christ the King Parish in Yonkers. She also did community service at Regional House in Hastings-on-Hudson. Mary Christopher and lived in Mount Vernon, New York.
Mary Christopher is survived by her two nieces: Ann Marie Leone of Nanuet, NY, Ann Moshier of New Rochelle, NY and by her sister-in-law Angela Caputo of FL.
She was preceded in death by father, Francesco Caputo, mother, Angela Raffaela, by her brothers: John, Frank, Peter, Joseph and Michael Caputo, and by her sisters: Rose Grecco, Mary Caputo, Clare Caputo, Sarah Caputo, and Phyllis Weibecker.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 2-4 & 6-8 pm at THE WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 190 Main St., Eastchester, NY.
Requiem Mass will be on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Holy Name of Jesus Church, New Rochelle. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island, NY. To sign our online guestbook, please visit
