John J. “JJ” Ferenchak, 88 POLAND – There will be a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at St. Matthias Church in Youngstown, with the Rev. Msgr. Peter Polando celebrating the Mass for John J. “JJ” Ferenchak, 88, who passed away peacefully Saturday morning, April 21, 2012. John was born Dec. 27, 1923, in Youngstown, the son of John and Ann (Garcar) Ferenchak. He retired after working 44 years at Republic Steel. John was a faithful member of St. Matthias Church and the Jenota Lodge. He was an avid bowler and golfer, where he played in the Jenota leagues. John was a honorable World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army Air Force. John will always be loved and remembered by his four children, Ronald (Rosemary) Ferenchak of Maumee, Jeffrey (Martha) Ferenchak of Boardman, John (Lori) Ferenchak of Columbus, and Lynne Heubel of Boardman; seven grandchildren, Corriander Ferenchak, Gregory Ferenchak, Jake and Zach Ferenchak, and Justin, Kelly, and Kayla Heubel; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Katherine Klesch of Virginia; several loving nieces and nephews; and a friend, Eleanor Gardner. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his two grandchildren, Michael J. Ferenchak and Ali Ryan Ferenchak; three sisters, Mary, Ann, and Sister Janice; and four brothers, Joseph, Steve, Richard, and George Ferenchak. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman. Friends may also call on Thursday, April 26, from 9 a.m. until time of the Mass at the church. Interment will take place at Lake Park Cemetery, where the great men of V.F.W. Post No. 9571 of Ellsworth will provide military honors in tribute to John’s dedicated service to our country.
