John Shore

John Ellsworth Shore, 85, of St. Thomas, PA, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at his home. Born November 28, 1926 in Burnt Cabins, PA, he was a son of the late John Thomas and Pearl Ann Mock Shore. John served in the US Navy during WWII and retired from Parman and Ellis, Inc., Portland, OR. He was a member of New Life Worship Center, Chambersburg, PA. John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Betty Mellott Shore, whom he married February 28, 1947; two children, Brenda Shore Peak and husband John of St. Thomas and Glen Shore and wife Kathy of Welton, AZ; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Bud Shore of Chambersburg; and seven sisters, Dorothy Fahnestock of Chambersburg, Larue Pierson of Fayetteville, Delores Thomas of Burnt Cabins, Velda Deshong of McConnellsburg, Leona Tritle of Chambersburg, Donna Maloney of Burnt Cabins, and Darlene Witten of Chambersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Allen Shore; a sister, Helen Thomas; and a brother, Merv Shore. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Monday, April 30, 2012 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Bishop Greg Meyers will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
