Dorothy Romines

Dorothy Catherine Romines, 83, of Independence, MO passed away Friday June 1st, 2012 at "The Groves" in Independence. Dorothy was born in Bendena, Kansas on Feb. 16th 1929 to Albert and Alba (Clark) Heater. Later that year the Heater Family moved to Independence, MO to find work and raise their 12 children. Dorothy attended school in Independence and Graduated in 1947 from William Chrisman High School. She then went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and had a 36 1/2 year career of which she was very proud of and had established lifelong friendships with several coworkers. Dorothy retired in Oct. 1985. On October 29, 1949 Dorothy married Harold Lee Romines. Harold brought a son to the marriage Dennis Lee Romines and together Harold and Dorothy had a son William Harold Romines. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years; her parents; 6 brothers; Imel Heater, William Heater, Clarence Heater, Glen Heater, Robert Heater and Donald Heater; 6 sisters, Lela Fowler, Louise Rogers, Helen Bailey, Alice Railey, Irene Barnett and Donna Saxton. Dorothy leaves behind her 2 sons Dennis Lee Romines (Sandra) of Oak Grove and William Harold Romines (Donita) of Independence; 6 Grandchildren Richard Romines (Belinda), Jenny Romines, William Romines Jr. (Amiee), Elizabeth Hunt (Cory), Robin Ruhlman (John) and Cody Crank (Ashley Grahl); 8 Great Grandchildren Cienna Romines, Sayge Romines, Jessica Greene, Sabrina Greene, Aiden Romines, Harrison Romines, Rowan Hunt and Jack Ruhlman. Dorothy was a very loving and generous mother, a fun and adventurous grandmother and a very proud great grandmother. She was dearly loved by her family and will be sadly missed by all who loved her. Private services under the arrangement of Speaks Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Animals Best Friends.
