Mackenzie Ann Hohl Obituary

Clinton – Mackenzie Ann Hohl, 15, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 from injuries sustained in a tragic accident. Mackenzie is survived by her mother, Catherine Hohl of Rhode Island; her maternal grandparents and adoptive parents, William and Dorothea (Murphy) Hohl, with whom she lived; and her paternal grandparents, Richard and Sandra (Grant) Sowa, all of Clinton. She leaves her siblings, Leanna and Gabriel Hohl, Izabella and Abigail Sowa; and generations of aunts and uncles, including Michael Hohl of Utah, Captain Matthew Hohl, USMC, stationed in Afghanistan; Todd Sowa, Derek Sowa and Kelly Sowa of Clinton; numerous cousins and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Wayne P. Sowa.

Mackenzie lived a life devoted to her family, friends, and faith. As a student athlete in the Clinton High School Class of 2014, she was a member of the Lady Gaels basketball team and also participated in track & field, softball, and cheerleading. She was an altar server at the former Our Lady of the Rosary Parish and taught CCD at St. John the Evangelist Church in Clinton. Mackenzie was passionate about children and aspired to become an elementary school teacher. She excelled at Irish step dancing and enjoyed writing poetry. Her contagious smile, vibrant personality, and generosity of spirit will be sadly missed, but memory of her loving friendship will live on forever.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union Street, Clinton, with burial to follow in St. John Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends are asked to kindly meet directly at the church on Saturday morning. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 4 until 8PM in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water Street, Clinton.
