Obituary for Wilfred F. Meazell

Services for Wilfred F. Meazell, 81, Athens, Formerly of Tyler, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Perry Smith and Rev. Micah Meazell officiating.

Burial will be in Athens Cemetery.

Mr. Meazell died April 15, 2005 in an Athens hospital.

He was born August 24, 1923 in Van Zandt County to the late William Alfred and Sara Jane Baucom Meazell. He was reared in Athens where he attended public schools and previously lived in Tyler 30 years and was a member of First Baptist Church, Tyler. He was a paint contractor in the home building industry.

Mr. Meazell served in the Army Air Force in Lavenham, England during World War II with the 387th Bomb Group. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion.

Preceeding him in death were two brothers, Phillip Meazell and Travis Meazell.

Survivors include wife, Iris Carroll Meazell, Athens, sons and daughters-in-law, Col. Billy G. Meazell, USAF Ret. and wife Sharon, Colorado Springs, Colo., Bobby D. and Shelia Meazell, Athens, brothers, Lamar Meazell, Tyler, Eugene Meazell, Oklahoma City, Okla., sister, Iris Thornton, Athens, stepdaughters, Sandy Green, Houston, Joan Segerlind, Dallas, grandchildren, Janet Truhlar, Debbie Potter, Susan Luebbe, Marisa Meazell, Micah Meazell, six great grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Quinton Meazell, Greg Fridel, Randy Gee, Bruce Meazell, Mike Pulley, and Tug Windle.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 P.M. Monday.
