Marian Witherspoon was born November 4, 1919 and went to be with the Lord and Savior August 16, 2007. She was born in Hastings, Nebraska to Clark Perry and Lucy Jane Cary who have preceded her in death. She has also been preceded in death by her siblings Iva Richarts, Pauline Roth, Ruby Urback, Carolyn Cary, George Cary, John Cary, Mary Bell Mattheson, Dorothy Noonan, and Bill Cary. She spent most of her adult life in Missouri where she married John Ross Witherspoon who has preceded her in death. They raised four children Clifford Eugene Witherspoon, Ron Witherspoon, Alice Dowell, and Betty Witherspoon. Clifford Eugene Witherspoon and wife Linda from Louisville Kenucky, Ron Witherspoon and wife Deb from McKinney, Texas, Alice Dowell and husband from Batesville, Arkansas, Betty Witherspoon from Malakoff, Texas where Marian Witherspoon spent the last few years. She has a legacy of eight grandchildren and their spouses, Jonathan Bradley Witherspoon and wife Rachel, Alicia Turner and husband Mark, Michelle Murphy and husband Matt, Brian Witherspoon and wife Michelle, Jasson Sturgeon and wife Kavonda, Letha Sturgeon and husband Melvin, Jennifer Harvin and husband Michael, and Stephanie Knight and husband Philip. She was blessed with nineteen great grandchildren, Robert Madison and Alexandria Witherspoon, Amber, Brittany, Caleb, and Daniel Turner, Jonathan, Rachel and Emma Murphy, Goerge Ross Witherspoon, Tye Sturgeon, LaShae, Melody and India Rose Sturgeon, Trae and Tate Harvin, and Levi and Garrett Knight, numerous nephews, nieces, and a host of friends. She loved life and never met a stranger. She enjoyed traveling, nature, sewing, and crafts, writing letters, church activities, family and friends. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on September 1, 2007. Services will be conduced at Faith Community Baptist Church, Mabank, and officiated by Reverend Dale Norris. A special note of appreciation to the staff at West Place Nursing Center, who loved and cared for her over the last nineteen months.
