Joyce E. Hale, 62, of Murphysboro, Illinois, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at her residence in Murphysboro, Illinois. Joyce was born on January 29, 1950, in Peoria, Illinois, to Erman Pine and Eileen (Cox) Pine. She had worked as a certified nurse's aide at nursing homes and hospitals, and had worked as a D.S.P. for Sky Star Home Care in DeSoto and at S.T.A.R.T. in Murphysboro. She had also worked for Community Alternatives in Carbondale. Joyce loved to take care of mentally, disabled people. She like to read and work puzzles, watch medical documentaries, and she loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Mrs. Hale was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Carbondale, a member of A.A.R.P. and was listed in the C.N.A. Registry in Springfield, Illinois. She is survived by her partner Brenda Sue Lipe of Murphysboro; four children Christina Johnson of Murphysboro, Tammy Cashion of Elkville, Chester Hale of Colp, and Phillip Hale of Marion; fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; one brother James Pine of Kahoka, MO, one sister Ann Fortney of Peoria, IL, and one "adopted" sister Carole Lu Morgan of Murphysboro; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, and uncles. She was preceded in death by one son J. D. Hale, one grandson Kyle Hale, one brother Charles Pine, and her parents. As per her wishes, her body has been cremated and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. Pettett Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
