Mary Lamison (Elliott) Cochran Shafer, 87, of Spring Hill, KS, passed away August 12, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center. Graveside Service will be 11:00 am Friday, August 17, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery, KCMO. Arrangements: Bruce Funeral Home, Spring Hill, KS, 913-592-2244. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Ocheltree Baptist Church. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com Mary was born October 25, 1924 in Greencastle, PA to Ambrose Clyde and Bessie May (Burkett) Elliott. She was a graduate of Greencastle High School. Mary wed Charles Cochran. He was in the military and they lived in many places. He worked for TWA and they moved to Overland Park in 1952, later settling in Spring Hill in 1962. He passed away in 1967. Mary then married Allen L. Shafer in 1969 in Spring Hill. She was a member of the Ocheltree Baptist Church. Mary loved raising her children. She liked sewing and making porcelain dolls and enjoyed singing. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose Elliott and Bessie Wallech, first husband Charles Cochran, one brother and five sisters, and son Robert Cochran. Mary is survived by her husband Allen, of the home; children William Andrew “Andy” Cochran and wife Peggy, Dennis Elliott, both of Spring Hill, David W Cochran and wife Jane Bollin of Bates City, MO, Jeffrey Lee Cochran and wife Donna of Emporia, KS, Meri Lou Christensen and husband Dean of Fredricksburg, VA, Phillip Matthew Cochran and wife Ellen of Ringwood, OK, Linda F. Wilson and husband Don of Shawnee, KS, Carol J. Owen and husband Gary of O’Fallon, IL, Peggy Cochran of Spring Hill, Marion L. Shafer and wife Dawn of Floodwood, MN and Sylvia Ann Hayes and husband Ron of Overland Park, KS; two nieces and a nephew that she helped raise; 32 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
