Alphonse R Pelonzi age 78 beloved husband of Patricia F. (Pizzello) Pelonzi of Beverly passed away suddenly on August 18th. Born in Beverly Ma the son of the late Amerigo and Philomena Pelonzi. Al graduated from St. John's Prep in 1952, and then attended Merrimack College in No. Andover. After college he entered the Naval Aviation Cadet program and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1955 until 1961. He owned and operated Richard's Package Store from 1963 until 1987. Then worked alongside his brother, Jerry, at Pelonzi's Hearthside. At the age of 60 he taught special needs students in Ipswich. For the remainder of his life he worked with his son Michael in his retail business. Al was an active member of the Scottish Right and worked with the Allepo Clown unit at the Shriners Burn Center. In 2009 his son Michael joined the Masons and became an officer with his Dad at the Manchester Lodge where Al served as their electrician for the past 15 years. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia of 49 years, his son Michael and his wife Lisa, his daughter Liz Pelonzi-Roy and her husband David. Al had 2 siblings, his late brother Jerry Pelonzi, who is survived by his wife Maria, and his sister Judy and her husband Tom Egan. He had several nieces and and nephews. He treasured his family more than anything. A funeral service will be held at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location) Saturday, August 25 at 12 noon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
