Charles Morgan Obituary

Charles Basil (Buck) Morgan was born on March 22, 1930 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Charles and Rosina (Rowlett) Morgan. They lived in Gilbert Plains before moving to Melville in 1940. Buck attended Eastend School and then graduated from Melville High in 1949. Buck was a great defenseman and began playing senior with the Humboldt Indians, where he played for one year. He then played for the Melville Millionaires. Buck began working for the CN in 1948 when he was eighteen. He began as a fireman and then worked as an engineer until he retired in 1990. He met Olga Denesiuk in 1950 and they were united in marriage November 27, 1955. Their marriage was blessed with four daughters: Selena Laurie, Jo-Anne and Bonnie. In between raising children, life for Buck was very active. To help raise his four daughters Buck took on a second job of selling vacuum cleaners door to door. He truly loved this job because it was another way to meet people. If he wasn't selling vacuum cleaners you would always find him making conversation with someone. Buck was a very caring and loving person. If someone was in the hospital he was there to bring them an ice cream or just go for a visit no matter what the circumstances. Buck was always there to help with the activities the girls were involved in. Many hours were spent making carnival props for the ice skating show, collecting advertising for programs and fundraising for the Melville Swimming Pool. During his career on the CN, Buck was a local chairman of the Brotherhood Locomotive Engineers. This is where he proved his love of debate. Buck knew his rules forwards and backwards and would argue until YOU finally got it right. Needless to say Buck rarely lost a grievance. Buck's love and dedication to his career was second to none. Buck's life came to a peaceful end on September.12, 2008 at the age of 78 years. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 52 years, Olga; their children and their families. Selena and Lloyd Redenbach, Bryce and Tyler; Laurie and Blair Frick, Jordan and Rebecca; Jo-Anne and Grant Reid, Levi and Jesse; Bonnie and Jeff McKerracher, Justin and Sean. One sister, Dorothy (Elton) Marshall; one brother, Ted (Joan) Morgan; two sisters-in-law, Marg Morgan and Chris Morgan; as well as many nieces and nephews. Buck was predeceased by: his father (Charles William, 1975); his mother, (Rosina Morgan, 1996); his brother (Jim Morgan, 1988) and his brother (Don Morgan, 2007).
