Cecilia Westervelt

Cecilia Katherine Westervelt, 97, of Scottsbluff, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Regional West Medical Center at Scottsbluff. Her Funeral will be Tuesday, December 23 at 2:00 P.M. at the Jolliffe Funeral Home at Scottsbluff with Father Don Buhrman officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Gering. Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity. Friends may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home, Monday, Dec. 22 from 1:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and at the Funeral Cecilia was born May 17, 1911 at Harrisburg, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Swan) Thompson. She graduated from the Gering High School and attended nursing school at Alliance. She was united in marriage to James Neil Westervelt, December 5, 1940 at Scottsbluff. After his discharge from the Army, they moved to Valparaiso, IN. where he attended college. After college, they moved back to Scottsbluff where they lived from 1946 to 1954. They then moved to Las Vegas, NV. where they lived from 1954 to 1957. They then returned to Scottsbluff, where Cecilia worked as the office manager/dental assistant for Dr. Zahradnicek for many years prior to her retirement She had been a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and various organizations. Survivors include her son Larry Eugene Westervelt of Scottsbluff, 2 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, brother Dr. Thomas (Margaret) Thompson of Lincoln, 2 nieces and 1 nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband May 16, 1966.
