John Raymond Robinson Sr., 74, died January 24, 2011 in Martinsburg, WV. John, aka “Big John”, went peacefully at home in his sleep after spending his final days surrounded by family. John was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline Hess Robinson; granddaughter Amanda Renee Custer; and younger brother James Lee Robinson Sr. John is survived by his “doll”, Stella Panagoulias Stutz and children: Shari and Daniel Munson of Martinsburg, John and Barbara Robinson of Martinsburg, Sandy and Phillip Munson of Salley, SC., Jackie and Rickey Custer of Winchester, VA., David and Susan Stutz of Mumbai, India, Karla and Brian Toomer of Cokeville, Wy., Robert and Blanche Stutz of Helena, Mt., and Shari and Dan Strachan of Missoula, Mt. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sister Frances “Sis” and Italo Quaglio, and brother Kenneth Robinson and Loretta. He will be deeply missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. John was born at his grandparent’s home, February 24, 1936, at Berkeley Station, WV, to the late Jack and Dorcas Rice Robinson. He married Jacqueline Hess in 1955. Before her death, they were sealed in the Washington, DC, Temple. He was sealed to Stella Panagoulias Stutz on January 19, 2008 in the Washington D.C. Temple. They celebrated their third anniversary days before his passing. John was a High Priest in the Martinsburg Ward, a member of the Bedington Ruritan Club and Teamsters Union. He was extremely friendly and often described as someone who never met a stranger. Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Friday, 28 January 2011 at 11:00am at 93 Langston Blvd., Martinsburg. Interment will be held at Hedgesville Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 7-9 pm on Thursday, January 27 at Brown Funeral Home and from 10-10:45 am Friday prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers please do random acts of kindness in John’s name.
