Obituary for Nancy Lee Niemann

Nancy Lee Elmore Neimann, 67, passed away at her home in Stillwater on August 8, 2009. She was born on March 30, 1942, the youngest child to Malcolm and Dorothy Elmore. She was raised outside of Fairland, IN. As a child her mother discovered her great talent as a pianist and organist. She used her music ability throughout her schooling, providing accompaniment for many choral groups. One such group included Dale Niemann whom she later married. Nancy graduated from Butler School of Music. She served as organist for Central United Methodist Church in Indianapolis; was employed in the music department of Shortridge High School; served as music director for First Presbyterian Church of Shelbyville, IN; and worked at Franklin Central High School until she retired. In 2007, she moved to Stillwater to be near her son. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Dale. She leaves her son, Matthew Niemann and wife Tracy; sister, Laura Mae Harvey and husband Wilbur; brothers, Martin Elmore and wife Barbara; Robert Elmore and wife Maxine; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are with Freeman Family Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to American Guild of Organists (Cimarron Chapter), the First Baptist Church at 701 S. Duncan St., Stillwater, OK 74074, or the American Cancer Society at 106 East Marie Dr., Stillwater, OK 74075.
