Obituary for Vincent D Tyer

Vincent D. Tyer Jr., age 73, of Norfolk , formerly of Bedford, died Tuesday November 20, 2012 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Peggy M. (Mitchell) Tyer. Born in Burlington Vt. Aug. 28, 1939, he was the only child of the late Vincent D. Tyer Sr. and Marjorie (Canning) Tyer. A resident of Bedford for 40 years, he had made his home in Norfolk for the past 3 years. Prior to his retirement in 1990, Vincent had been employed for 30 years as a manager for New England Telephone. He served with the Air National Guard and was a longtime member of the Frank W. Thompson Masonic Lodge AF & AM of Bedford. Devoted to his wife and sons, Vincent cherished the time he spent with his 7 grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Vincent D. Tyer III & his wife Jennifer of Pearl River N.Y. & Todd M. Tyer & his wife Amy of Medfield; 7 grandchildren, Caitlin, Kerry, Casey, Sean, Michael, James & Marilyn. Also survived by his dear cousin, Ann Dermody of Flager Beach Fl. Relatives & friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Edward the Confessor Church 133 Spring St. Medfield Saturday Nov. 24, 2012 at 10am. Burial will follow at Norfolk Cemetery in Norfolk Ma. Visiting hours in the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home 15 Miller St. Medfield will be Friday Nov. 23, from 4 to 8pm Expressions of sympathy can be made in Vincent’s name to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute 10 Brookline Pl., West, 6th Fl. Brookline Ma. 02145
