Obituary for Ida Helen Ingram

Ida Helen (Chronister) Ingram was born on 20th January 1920 in DeQueen, Arkansas, the eldest child of Ward and Nancy Chronister. In 1926 she moved with her family to Sand Springs, Oklahoma where she graduated from Sand Springs High School. She married A.Y. Gentry in 1940 and in 1961 they settled in the Independence-Monmouth area with their five children. In 1967 she was married a second time to Lester Ingram and the couple lived on the family farm north of Independence. Helen worked for over 20 years in the housekeeping department at what was then Oregon College of Education now Western Oregon, eventually returning from retirement to manage the department. Helen’s life revolved around her family, family dinners were so special to her. She enjoyed summer gardening and canning, and her activities as a dedicated member of the Monmouth Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Glenn and Raymond Chronister, and her husband Lester Ingram. She is survived by four daughters, Sharon Gentry and Linda Ryan of Monmouth, Nancy Sullivan of Auburn, California, and Gloria Stoner of Vancouver, Washington, by one son Roy Gentry of St Denis, Belgium, step-son Phillip Ingram of Everett WA, step-daughter Phyllis Nash of Monmouth, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral service will be 11:00am Friday, October 7th at the Church of Christ in Monmouth. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens in West Salem, then back to the church for a reception. Arrangements entrusted to Farnstrom Mortuary.
