James E. Bower, 80, of Muncie, IN died Saturday December 1, 2007 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. He was born on May 13, 1927 in Wells County, IN the son of Irenus and Bertha (Strain) Bower. On November 1, 1947 in Muncie, IN he married Vada (Penny) Bower.
James loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed volunteering his time at the Minnetrista wood shop and working the train rides in Knightstown, IN. He walked two miles every day at the Muncie Mall. James also worked for Westing House for 20 years
Surviving relatives include his loving wife of sixty years, Vada Bower of Muncie; two sons, Stephen Bower (wife: Gennie) of Muncie; Gary Bower (wife: Andrea); of Selma, IN; two sisters, Jane Langdon (husband: John) of Muncie; Joan White of Cullman, AL; five grandchildren; Jodi Dugger (husband: Troy) of Yorktown, IN; Holly Bower of Muncie; Deborah Bower of Muncie; Carissa Bower of Selma; Keith Thompson of Anderson, IN; two great-grandchildren; Breanna Bower and Jenna Dugger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 5, 2007 at Garden View funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Kenneth Cooper will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, IN. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
