LYONS, Nellie Augusta – 90, of Sandford and formerly of Chegoggin, Yarmouth Co., passed away on January 9, 2012 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born July 4, 1921 in Chegoggin, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Hazel (Sullivan) Smith. Nellie was a member of Yarmouth North Baptist Church. During her early years, she was employed at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. She is survived by daughter, Hazel Shaw, Sandford; son, Percy (Doris), Oshawa, Ont.; brother, Hubert (Merriam) Sullivan, Wolfville; half sisters, Hilda Stuart, Yarmouth; Elaine (Bud) Hurlburt, Rockville; Sylvia (Albern) Donaldson, Wellington; step sister, Bernice (Paul) Agrell, Calais, ME; sister-in-law, Shirley Sullivan, Yarmouth; daughter-in-law, Ruth Thompson, Chegoggin; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband, Charles; son, C. Malcolm; brother, Howard; one sister in infancy; step mother, Muriel Sullivan; step sister, Lorraine Deveau; son-in-law, Lawrence Shaw. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 11 from 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 12 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Scott MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Chegoggin Cemetery.
