Funeral mass for Darrell Bruning age 71 of Wisner, NE will be on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wisner, NE. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., with the family present after 5:30 p.m., and will continue on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wisner, NE. There will be a public vigil service on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is handling the arrangements. Darrell passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Providence Medical Center in Wayne, NE. Darrell George Bruning was born June 6, 1941 at Yankton, SD to Vincent and Evelyn (Suing) Bruning. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Philip and James Catholic Church at St. James, NE. Darrell attended and graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic School in Hartington, NE. On September 22, 1962, he was united in marriage to Nancy Giese at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne, NE. While living in Wayne, he worked for Roy Coryell Chevrolet. The couple moved to Wisner and Darrell was employed at Al Sundahl Chevrolet and later went to work for Einung Concrete and later was called Husker Concrete. After Husker Concrete was purchased by Gerhold Concrete, he worked in Columbus for approximately 5 years. He has operated Bruning Repair and Wrecker Service for the last several years. Darrell also delivered the Sunday Omaha World Herald for over 40 years. Darrell was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the Wisner Volunteer Fire Department. Darrell enjoyed bowling, golfing, shuffleboard and especially spending time with the children, grandchildren and wrecker calls. Survivors include- Wife- Nancy Bruning of Wisner, NE Children and their families- Mike and wife Sandra Bruning of San Marino, CA and children- Lauren, Allison & Nicole Michelle and husband Mark Kreikemeier of Snyder, NE and children- WhitneyWaterman, Tyson Waterman and fiancée Tamara Kris and husband Dwight Brahmer of Wisner, NE and children- Alex, Andrew, Adam & Ashley David and wife Susie Bruning of Lincoln, NE and daughter- Aubrey Amy Bruning of Wisner, NE Anne and husband Gary McBride of Wisner, NE and children- Ryan, Tyler & Aidan Keri Tienken of Omaha, NE Brothers and Sisters- Don and wife Carol Bruning of Hartington, NE Dorothy and husband Bob Haage of Mead, NE Jerry and wife Marlyce Bruning of Coleridge, NE Chuck Bruning of Hartington, NE Carol Ann Wortmann of Hartington, NE Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, brothers- one in infancy and Jim, and a brother-in-law-Dave Wortmann.
