George S. White of Cedar Grove passed away peacefully at the Canterbury Care and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, March 30. He was 84. Born in Newark, George also lived in Upper Montclair before moving to Cedar Grove in 1965. Businessman, Ph.D and Scientist, George donated much of his time to the Essex County Sherriff’s Dept. He was a lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America and actively served on the Committee for Troop 7, St. Catherine of Siena RC Church from 1963 through 1980. He was a 32nd Degree Freemason and a member of the Blue Lodge. George cared deeply for children and shared his knowledge of electronics and electricity with the students of St. Catherine of Siena School during the 1970’s. He volunteered his time after school hours to teach those students who showed an interest. He is predeceased by his parents Felix and Rhoda White and his sister Ann White. He is survived by his good friend, Richard Williams of Cedar Grove. Per his wishes, there will be no viewing or services.
