LaVerne Wieberdink

LaVerne M. Wieberdink, 91, of Cedar Grove, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013, at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls where she resided since February. LaVerne was born on February 26, 1922 in Oostburg, daughter of Elmer and Jennie (Roerdink) Lammers. She was a 1939 graduate of Oostburg High School. On October 24, 1941 she married Ernst Wieberdink in Oostburg. Ernst passed away on January 13, 1986. LaVerne was employed at Larson Canning Co. for over 20 years until her retirement in 1986. She also worked at Musebeck Shoe Company for several years. LaVerne was a member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove where she was a member of the Dorcas Society and sang in the choir. She was also a member of Oostburg Christian School Circle. La Verne enjoyed visits with her family, traveling, playing cards, puzzles, knitting, crocheting, gardening, and playing the organ. LaVerne enjoyed her time living at Pine Haven Residential Home in Oostburg for the past three years. LaVerne is survived by her daughter, Kaye (Joel) Ebbers of Cedar Grove; her two sons, David (Carol) Wieberdink and Mark (Deb) Wieberdink, both of Cedar Grove; eight grandchildren, Andrew (Beth) Wieberdink, Benjamin (Natalie) Wieberdink, Julie (Keith) La Count, Emily and Nathan (Fiancee’ Kayla Eernisse) Wieberdink, Traci (Daniel) Hopeman, Jodi (Jason) Jones, and Tami (Jason) Jacoby; two step-grandchildren, Dan (Tara) Wilterdink and Kerry (David) Ashe; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Arlie Roerdink and Edith Beernink of Cedar Grove; two brothers-in-law, Gordon Wieberdink, and Leslie (Arline) Wieberdink; and one aunt, Alice TeRonde of Sheboygan Falls. LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Ernst; her parents; two sisters, Eileen (Lloyd) Vander Jagt and Genevieve (Ronald) Huibregtse; two great-grandchildren, Jarred Benjamin Wieberdink and Parker Daniel Hopeman; three sisters-in-law, Jean Wieberdink, Muriel (Ivan) Beernink, and Doris (LeRoy) Traas; and two brothers-in-law, Audley Roerdink and Robert (June) Wieberdink. Funeral services to celebrate LaVerne’s life will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove with Rev. Ronald L. Beabout officiating. Burial will take place in Presbyterian Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Relatives and friends may call at the church Wednesday from 4:00 until the time of the service at 7:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in LaVerne’s name for Calvary OPC and Pine Haven Christian Communities.
