Aleatha Grace

Aleatha (Welsh) Grace, 99, of Mt. Pleasant was called to her heavenly home on April 25, 2013. She was born January 21, 1914 in Isabella County to Ruby Florence (Knowles) and George Wesley Welsh. She was raised on the farm at the corner of Baseline and Meridian Roads in Mt. Pleasant. She married William E. Grace August, 1935. After living in Waukesha, Wisconsin for 5 years during the early part of their marriage, they moved back to Michigan and settled on a farm north of Mt. Pleasant where they raised their three daughters. Aleatha was a loving mother, always putting others before herself. She left wonderful memories of a happy childhood for her children. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Mt Pleasant. After Aleatha’s children were grown, she worked outside the home at the Pixie Drive-in, the Embers, Central Michigan University, and Coldwater Lake Inn. She is survived by two daughters, Janet (Clayton) Phelps of Mt Pleasant, and Sharon (Lyle) McBride of Shepherd. She is also survived by her sister, Gala Casner and sister-in-law, Erma Cameron. She leaves 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, William, in July, 1984, and one of her twin daughters, Shirley Bean in 2007, and a great-grandson, Nathan Gepford. A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant at 11am on Monday, April 29, 2013. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will take place at Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant or Woodland Hospice.
