Tyler Myers Obituary

Tyler Lamar Myers passed away in Lebanon, NJ, on Friday, May 3, 2013 at the age of 32. Tyler will be joining his paternal grandparents George and Florence Myers, his uncle Norman Sauder , his aunt Ruth Myers Rosenberry, and his cousins Jonathan Witter and Abigail Hershberger, who have gone on to heaven before him. Tyler leaves behind his loving wife, Shane Silva Myers and their daughter (to be born in September). Tyler and Shane were married in a rooftop ceremony in New York, NY on September 24, 2011. While their time together on this earth was shorter than either had hoped for, they lived a happy life together full of love with their four-legged family members (Chablis, McDuffy, Donde, & Buena) pursuing common interests of travel and adventure. Tyler is lovingly remembered by his parents Charles & Joan Witter Myers of Chambersburg, PA; his sister Tonya and husband Steven Wible of McConnellsburg, PA; his brother Travis Myers of Missoula, MT; and his grandparents Omar and Geraldine Witter of Greencastle, PA. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews Elyana Wible, Gianni Berrios, and Dezi Ortiz whom he adored; as well as by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins who adored him. Tyler was born in Chambersburg, PA on October 8, 1980. He graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1999 and went on to earn a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Lafayette College in 2003; a M.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 2006, and received his Professional Engineer License in 2009. He has worked as a Mechanical Engineer for the United States Army Armaments Development & Engineering Center (ARDEC) at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ since 2003. Tyler’s career path in Mechanical Engineering was not a surprise, as from an early age he showed interest discovering how things worked and in all things technological. That interest carried over into his personal life, as he enjoyed customizing motorcycles, home improvements, technological gadgets, as well as robots, and mini motorized helicopters. He was a self-proclaimed ice cream connoisseur. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, and often spent time with family and friends hiking, boating, kayaking, skiing, and sky diving. A Memorial Service of Remembrance will be held at Lafayette College Chapel, High Street & McCarthy Street, Easton, PA 18042 on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverends Megan Boozer and Ben O’Toole officiating. Visitation will be held at Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church, 7041 Cumberland Highway, Chambersburg, PA 17202 on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service in the Church. The funeral will be held at Air Hill Brethren in Christ Church on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverends William Harter, Harold E. Yeager, and Meagan Boozer officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. The Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg, has been entrusted with his funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to a private fund for Tyler’s daughter, who will be arriving in September. Donations can be sent to: The Baby Myers Fund c/o Charles H. Myers at Orrstown Bank 77 East King St. Shippensburg, PA 17257.
