David William Rector, Sr. of St. James, Missouri was born Saturday, September 6, 1947 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Burton and Bertha (Nee: Palmer) Rector and left from this life on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at his home in St. James, Missouri at the age of 65. David was united in marriage to Barbara on May 15, 1975 at Anderson, Missouri and to this union came nine children; Tonya Lee, David William Jr., Christie Lynn, Timothy Allen, Scottie William, Burton William, Barbara Lynn, Charles Burton and Jeremie William. David worked as a taxi cab drive in his younger years, that’s how he met Barb, before becoming a dump truck driver for many years. David enjoyed watching old western movies especially one with Dale Rogers and John Wayne. He owned a beautiful green 1971 Ford F100 that was called “Papa’s Pickup”. They took to car shows and he even won first place in Belle, Missouri. He had spent hours outside the boys and family playing horse shoes and ball. David favorite past time was spending time with his wife of 38 years, his children and all of his grandchildren. David was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. David is preceded in death by his parents Burton and Bertha Rector, one brother Charles Burton Rector, one son Timothy Allen Rector, one grandson Jeremie William Rector, Jr. and other relatives and friends. Those who are left to treasure his memory and to continue his legacy is his loving wife Barbara Rector of the home, children Tonya Lee and partner Rick Rhoades of Sullivan, David William Rector, Jr. of Jeff City, Christie Lynn and husband John Surface of St. Roberts, Scottie William Rector and partner Tiffany Huddox of St. James, Burton William and wife Kelly Rector of St. James, Barbara Lynn Rector of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Charles Burton Rector of St. James and Jeremie William and wife Klarissa Rector of St. James, grandchildren; Ryan Allen, Rishell, Kathleen, Dakota Wade, Larretta Lynn, Brandon Dennis, Cole Dalton, Houston Allen, Leah Ruth, Kyra Elizabeth, Dallas Evan, Shelby Ann, Satina Kay, Skylar Lee, Alexander Knoll, Kyra Nichole, Mason Edwin Lee, Hailey Marie, Sarah Pearl, Dalton and Xavier Matthew, one brother Richard Lee and wife Molly Rector of Sullivan, one sister Linda Sue and husband John Duncan of Wentzville, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 19, 2013 at Wishon Cemetery, Old St. James Road, St. James, Missouri with Pastor Norman Heironimus officiating. Special music for the graveside service will be “Amazing Grace” and “I Saw the Light" by Rodger Bridgeman, Jr. “Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.” John Wayne The Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba is honored to be serving the Rector family.
