Anna W. Maruska, 89, of Meadville, formerly of Greensburg and Carmichaels, died Saturday, August 24, 2013. She was born December 24, 1923 in Vestaburg, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Julia Elko Phillips. She was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church of Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five brothers: Michael, John, William, Andrew, and George Phillips; two sisters: Margaret Stefan and Mary Semosky; and a son-in-law, Arthur C. Butters. She is survived by her husband, Michael Maruska, Sr.; four sons: Michael Maruska, Jr. of Fla., Peter J. (Melissa) Maruska of Cochranton, Paul T. (Nancy) Maruska of Stevensville, Mont., and Mark J. Maruska of Newton, N.J.; two daughters: Anna Butters of Wilmington, Del. and Mary Maruska of Brockton, Mass.; and a brother Julius Phillips of Vestaburg; fourteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A blessing service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. Friends will then be received in the funeral home until 1 p.m., at which time a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, 624 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, with Father Regis Ducesina as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mount St. Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown.
