Mr. Timothy Russell Root, resident of the Augusta area, died Friday, September 13, 2013. Tim was 36 years of age. The family will receive visitors at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCrory from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, September 18, 2013. Tim was born in Fort Campbell, Ky., on January 19, 1977 to Gary and Kathleen Hoppell Root. He attended Kentucky schools and moved back to the Woodruff County area where he lived at the time of his death. While here, he was an employee of the Bunge Corporation as a deck hand on the Augusta Barge. His main love was his daughter, Kalee and they enjoyed their time together. Tim also liked spending time with the rest of his family and friends, loved hunting and fishing and was known to be a very good cook. He had his own special way of making a delicious cabbage dish and he never revealed his secret recipe to anyone. A very friendly and outgoing person, Tim never seemed to meet a stranger and could converse with anyone about anything. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all of those who knew him. Survivors include his father, Gary Root and wife, Jean of Augusta, his mother, Kathleen Hoppell of Paducah, KY, one daughter: Kalee Cheyenne Griggs of Romance, two step-brothers: Tim Carter of McCrory and Mike Trout and wife Lisa of Paducah, KY, two sisters: Christina Renee Gonzalez and husband Walter of Washington State, Jennifer Lee Root of Paducah, Ky. , one step-sister: Ashley Carter of Houston, Texas, his grandfather, Bernard Thomas of Marion, Indiana, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
