Mr. Gregory (Greg) Coburn Reed, 53, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Greg was born in Fort Worth, Texas, but had lived most of his life in Washington County, Va. He was currently an employee of American Commercial Inc. where he had worked as a welder for 20 years. Greg was an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting and never missed a chance he had at going fishing. He attended Woodland Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Connie Phillips Reed of Abingdon; parents, William Kyle and Sarah Coburn Reed of Abingdon; two sisters, Kathy Reed Johnson and husband Mac of Glade Spring and Deborah Clark and husband Randy of Bentonville, Va.; seven nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ann and Dallas Phillips of Abingdon; sister-in-law, Rita June Phillips of Hillsville, Va.; his best friend who was like a brother, James Honaker; and numerous other friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2013, at Woodland Baptist Church, Woodland Hills Rd. Abingdon, Va. 24210, with Pastor Bob McCormick and Rev. Paul Maye officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Frost Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Randy Clark, Mac Johnson, Corey Johnson, Tommy Hagy, Jeff Hagy and Jimmy Fritz. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Johnson, Jenner Johnson, James Honaker, G.R. Higginbotham and Dr. Bruce Higinbothom. It is suggested that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105, in his name.
