James Lawrence Barbee, age 86, of Louisville, IL, passed away at 3:04 pm Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Good Samaritian Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. James was born May 23, 1926 in Blair Township of Clay County, Illinois the son of Victor Ray and Bertha Rae (Hord) Barbee. On May 4, 1947, he was united in marriage with Margaret Mae Lewis at their home in Bible Grove, IL and to this union were two sons and one daughter. He was retired by the Fedder's Corporation in Effingham, Illinois and was a member of the Red Brush Christian Church being in leadership there for 47 years. James is survived by his wife, Margaret Mae Barbee of Louisville; sons, Larry Barbee and wife Betty of Louisville, and Victor Ray Barbee and wife Erma Pearl of Louisville; daughter, Loretta Sue Goebel and husband Jerry of Lexington, Kentucky; brother, Rolla "Wally" Barbee and wife Bonnie of Louisville; brother-in-law, Paul Rose of Flora; sister, Betty Adams of Effingham; sister-in-law, Fern Barbee of Flora; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Victor Ray and Bertha Rae Barbee; brothers, Victor. Donald "Bud" Barbee and infant Emery Barbee; sisters, Millie Rose, Helen Wilson and Lois Barbee. Arrangements are being handled by the J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Red Brush Christian Church in Louisville. The funeral service will be held at the Red Brush Christian Church at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. There will be a one hour wake prior to the sevice also at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 am, October 9, 2013. Interment will be a tthe Red Brush Cemetery in Louisville. Memorial donations may be made to the Oil Belt Christian Service Camp and will be received at the funeral home or church.
