Obituary for Robert J. Soreng

Robert J. Soreng, Sr.

Age 61. Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center as the result of a heart condition. Born in Chicago, he grew up in River Grove and was a Plainfield resident the past 15 years. A U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from USF Holland and was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local #705. Formerly employed by Be-Mac Transport. Classic cars and drag racing were his passions.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Norine (nee Lennox) Soreng; and one sister, Barbara Westman.

Survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Leslie (nee Coffey) Soreng of Plainfield and their children, Robert J. Soreng, Jr. of Plainfield and Jennifer L. Soreng of Cape Coral, FL; son, James R. Soreng and James’ mother, Mary Jo Soreng, both of Park Forest; two grandsons, Deontae and Jamison Smith; two sisters, Arlene Soreng and Deborah (Sam) Marsillo; and one brother, John Soreng of Cape Coral, FL. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services for Robert J. Soreng, Sr. will be Wednesday, December 9, 2009, 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Plainfield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at:
