Harold L. “Howie” Snyder, 67, of Hummelstown, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at ManorCare in Lebanon after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Harrisburg on March 30, 1946, he was the son of the late David B. and Macel Lee Snyder. Harold retired from Aumen’s Paint & Wallpaper Store where he was a paint expert and salesman. He was also a former employee of Sherwin Williams. He was a 1964 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, and then attended Shippensburg University. Harold was an US Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 265 in Hummelstown. Harold was an avid reader, traveler, photographer and fisherman.
Harold was predeceased by his parents and nephew, Corbett Snyder. He is survived by his brother David and his wife Sandra Snyder of Limerick, Maine; a niece Kathryn Dow and great nephew Parker Dow of Scarborough, Maine; and many special friends and incredible caregivers at Country Meadows, ManorCare and Jim and Barb Lehman.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the funeral home from 10 AM until time of the services. A private family interment was held at Hummelstown Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Dauphin County Library System, 101 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101 – please write in the memo line “Hummelstown Library in memory of Harold Snyder”.
