William Packard

Bill Packard, 60, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Monday, November 25, 2013. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 2nd at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. Bill was born on the Edwards Air Force Base, CA to William Luther and Virginia (MacDonald) Packard. He attended University of Texas, El Paso, on a football scholarship. He enlisted in the Army where he proudly served as Military Police in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. He later married Nancy (McDowell) and together they raised three boys. He worked for the Emergency Communication of Johnson County, KS for 23 years as Assistant Director of Community Preparedness. Bill enjoyed coaching his boys’ sports teams, trout fishing and most recently the Ham radio. He is remembered for his love and dedication to his family. Bill is survived by wife, Nancy of the home; son, Will Packard of Kansas City, MO; son, Thomas Packard of Lee’s Summit, MO and his fiancée Aimee Lehmuth of Jefferson City, MO; son, Jonathan Packard of Lee’s Summit, MO; parents, Virginia and Bill of Hemet, CA; sisters, Joan Foss and Wanda Dodich of MI, Marcia Gorman of CA; and brother David Packard of TX. The family encourages contributions to St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation (Memo: Organ Transplant); 4401 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO, 64111, in his memory.
