Services for Betty Lawson Godwin, 81, Athens are scheduled for 2:00 P M Wednesday at the Shelby Chapel Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Bill Slayton officiating.
Burial will follow in the cemetery.
Mrs. Godwin died November 30, 2013 in Tyler.
She was born September 16, 1932 in Athens to the late Andy Marlin and Doris Loretha Thompson Lawson and was a lifelong resident of the community. She served a 20 year tenure with Gulf States Telephone Company retiring in 1964 as secretary to the district manager.
Following retirement she worked at Koon Kreek Klub. Betty was a member of Central Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J “Bobby” Godwin in 1993 and sister Bobbie Blanche Buchanan in 2010.
Survivors include son James Greg Godwin, Taiwan, grandchildren Dustin Brian Godwin, Christopher Ray Godwin, both of Athens, Amy Elizabeth Godwin, Traverse City, Michigan, sisters Shirley Ledbetter, LaNell Faulk, Linda Lane, all of Athens, Patricia Spradling, Tyler, Sherri Kerbo, Heath, numerous nephews and nieces that lovingly knew her only as Aunt Bea.
Visitation for family and friends will be 5:00 until 6:30 P M Tuesday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
