Amelia G. McCulloh, 89, of Mercersburg, PA passed away Saturday March 17, 2012 at Providence Place of Chambersburg, PA.
Born November 27, 1922 at Greencastle, PA she was a daughter of the late Frank H and Ethel L. Myers Crider.
At the age of 14 she went to work on the Hamilton farm near Mercersburg and lived there for nine years.
An active member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Mercersburg, she joined the church in April, 1939. During the years, Amelia was in charge of dinners for different organizations held at the church, also church suppers, church food stands held at area sales, and receptions after funeral services. Amelia was appointed first woman Elder of the church and was also a member of Consistory, S & D Fellowship, and Women’s Guild.
She would take friends to doctor’s appointments and to area hospitals and helped with shopping during illnesses.
Other memberships include the Ladies Auxiliaries of VFW Post 6241 and American Legion #517 both of Mercersburg.
Amelia married Allen R. McCulloh on December 8, 1945, at Trinity United Church of Christ with Reverend James Moyer performing the ceremony. Allen passed away August 25, 2001.
Surviving are two brothers in law, Gerald E. McCulloh of Mercersburg and Robert D. McCulloh of Greencastle. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Amelia was preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy Kump, Catherine Crider, and William, and Walter, and Brook Crider.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 22nd at Trinity United Church of Christ with Reverend Matthew Hoover officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Viewing 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Trinity United Church of Christ.
