Obituary for Stella Myrtle Hooper

Newspaper Obituary for: Stella M. (Hall) Hooper Stella (Hall) Hooper, 95 yrs. old passed away December 27, 2013 at Eastgate Village. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.at the Muskogee Seventh-day-Adventist Church, 170 N. Country Club Rd. in Muskogee. Pastor Perry Flerchinger and Pastor Fred Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenhill Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Stella was born in Osceola, Missouri, October 5, 1918. She traveled in a covered wagon until she was 5 yrs. old. Her father was a house and barn builder in a five state area. When they got to Muskogee, her mother would go no farther as she had traveled 16 years in a covered wagon. Stella’s father wanted to continue traveling, but her mother set her foot down and they had an argument. Her father said, “I will take Stella with me and leave.” Her mother packed her clothes and said “Go”. Her father got mad and kicked down the stove and left alone. When he came back he had bought her Mother a big box of candy and decided to stay in Muskogee. When they first came to Muskogee, they camped in the campground south of the fairgrounds. Stella got acquainted with William Jesse Hooper when she was five and he was nine yrs. old. Stella always stopped him on the way to school and gave him something for his lunch. Each week she gave him doughnuts. Stella later moved to Wagoner County and attended the River Valley School. They lived south of Spaulding Bridge that crossed the Arkansas River. William Hooper and Stella Hall were married October 22, 1932. They celebrated their sixty-ninth wedding anniversary together in 2001. Stella was a member of the Seventh-day-Adventist church for fifty years. Her favorite verse is Psalms 50:15. Stella was a very hard worker and loving wife and mother. She worked at Griffin Canning Co., Swift and Company and gave Stanley Home Parties as a demonstrator. She made Army fatigues at Kloss Manufacturing. She retired from Yaffe Iron & Metal as an office and machine shop assistant after 20 years. Stella was preceded in death by her parents, John William Hall & Hattie Butts Hall, her husband, William Jesse Hooper, son, Lloyd Harman Hooper, grandson, John William Hooper, granddaughter, Jamie Rogers Sandefur, great-grandson, Dustin Tolliver, daughter-in-law, Betty Black Hooper, and son-in-law, Joe P Ballard. She leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her children: Harold Hooper, Mildred “Mickey” (Pete) Hagan, Barbara Rogers (Jim), Cherry Shahan (Lee), Carolyn Anderson (Roger), and Billie Schroder (Mike). Grandchildren: Tracy Young, Ginger Griffith, Ellen Wofford (Jack), Joe Hooper (Meta), Terry Hagan (Mabel), Kevin Hagan (June), Carrie Keubler (Bud), Kelly Bailey, Rickie Crone, Toni Einhellig (Billy), Lesley Shahan (Justine), Mike Shahan (Deann), Sy Webster, Kim Cunningham (Lee), Scott Schroder (Stacey), and Brian Schroder, 38 great grandchildren and 40 great-great-grandchildren. The family has entrusted Bradley Family Funeral Service of Muskogee with the arrangements. Friends may send condolences to the family at www.bradleyfuneralservice.com
