Vivian Sidney Marcy Cummings July 17, 1914 - September 19, 2009 Vivian Cummings resided in Hood River for 34 years. During her stay here she was very active in St. Mary’s Catholic Church including the Altar Society, the Country Store and mending or sewing whatever was needed. She also participated in Loaves and Fishes and sewed Christmas stockings for many, many years which were given away. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rosary will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 6:00 PM at Anderson’s Tribute Center. Vault interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Vivian was born in Mt. Vernon, WA, lived in Nebraska, moved to Idaho where she met her husband of 55 years, Barney. Together they worked in many states including Arizona, California and Montana. Vivian traveled to these states often with Barney. After he died in 1988, she was able to continue traveling to such places as Hawaii, Alaska and a cruise through the Panama Canal. She enjoyed her work with the church, family, sewing everything from altar cloths to square dance dresses, fishing, reading and traveling. She enjoyed beating family and friends at cribbage. At the age of 88 she learned how to use a computer and send e-mails. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband A.G. “Barney” Cummings and her granddaughter Sandra. She is survived by her children: Eugene (Oma) οf Roseburg, OR, Joan Farley (Lloyd) of Phoenix, AZ, and Paul (Renee) of Hood River along with 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren and her cat Sylvester.
