Maria Zynych passed away peacefully on the sunny morning of October 12, 2019 at the golden age of 100 years. Born on the Rosychuk farm in the Bellis area, she was the 4th of 8 children, the oldest girl. Mom cherished her memories of family and community on the farm and developed a lifelong passion for nurturing gardens, flowers and enjoying the harvest. Maria had three sons and a busy life as a wife, mother and homemaker. Proud and energetic, Maria enjoyed her family, Ukrainian cooking/embroidery, singing and church activities at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Left to cherish her memory are sons, Terry Zynych, Ron (Tina) Zynych, Ernie (Lena) Rachmistruk; grandsons, Paul and Peter (Kathy); great-grandchildren, Mark, Daniel, Vanessa, Nikolas and Nathaniel; and numerous other relatives. Predeceased by her husband, Alex Zynych; parents, Dezio and Ustena; brothers, George, Tom, John, Harold and Mac; and sisters, Frozena and Ann. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Capital Care Lynnwood and Maria’s three angel companions, Elmira, Jane and Catherine, for their care and affection for Maria. Funeral Rite Saturday, October 19 at 10:00 at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 12104 – 129 Avenue, Edmonton.
