Bonnita "Bonnie" Joyce Kerner Obituary

It is with great sadness, the family of Bonnita “Bonnie” Joyce Kerner of Whitecourt, AB, formerly of Rainbow Lake, AB, wishes to announce her passing at the age of 75 years. Bonnie is survived by her mother, Annie Yarosh; brother, Donald (Irene) Yarosh; sisters, Janice Yarosh (Dwane Davis) and Judith (James) Prichuk; nephews, Dustin (Candice) Yarosh and Troy Yarosh; great-nephews, Brandon, Deegan, Oliver and Oakley; and great-niece, Adyson. During one of the cold months of 1941, a sweet baby girl was born at the hands of a midwife in the small community of Kinuso, AB. Bonnita Joyce had arrived. Bonnie was a teacher and then became an entrepreneur, Bonnie started her teaching career in a one classroom school in Whitemud Creek, AB, where she taught several grades and then obtained a teaching position for a number of years in Valleyview, AB. Since she approached life with a “sense of adventure” and a desire to pursue entrepreneurship, she moved to Rainbow Lake, a remote community in the northern region of Alberta. She quickly adapted to the “Northern” environment and truly enjoyed participating in the ladies “Powder Puff” league while racing stock cars and snowmobiles. During her years in the North, she became involved in a few companies. She was especially proud of and enjoyed working with, her well trained staff, under a company called “Classy Cleaning”. In later years, Bonnie settled in Whitecourt, AB. She truly enjoyed landscape gardening and “trees beware” if Bonnie had a set of clippers in her hands. Bonnie had a vibrant, gregarious nature and she was an exemplary hostess. She always encouraged family and friends to join her for a home-cooked bowl of soup or a goulash and she especially enjoyed a large gathering during the Christmas or Easter festivities. We shall truly miss that beautiful smile and “twinkle” in her eyes. Bonnie’s kindness, compassion and her ability to make any occasion a “memorable one” will always remain in the hearts of loved ones. Thank you to Dr. Andrew Halladay and staff at the Whitecourt Healthcare Centre for their care and compassion. Thank you to the friends of Bonnie that gave her support, gossip and laughter. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date with inurnment in Swan Valley Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Friends of Whitecourt Society, Box 1101, Whitecourt, AB T7S 1P1.
