Casey James Hamilton Edinburg, Texas Obituary

Casey James Hamilton

CASEY JAMES HAMILTON MCALLEN - Casey James Hamilton was born on July 13, 1970 in Lafayette, LA to a beautiful Creole pair, Percy James and Yola Mae Hamilton of Lafayette, LA. Casey was a big brother to Chastity Marie and Margo Ann Hamilton of Lafayette, LA. He married the love of his life, Monica Martinez Hamilton (Mona) originally of Edinburg, Texas in 1997. Although no children of their own came, they loved their nieces and nephews: Derrick Deon Gabriel, London Paige Cravins, Nylah Milan Ebow all of Lafayette, LA; Josua Alejandro Vazquez, Karina Aileen Vazquez and Isaac Romelo Martinez all of McAllen, Texas. Together, Casey and Monica were endeared by their only grandniece, Aaliyah Lynn Vazquez of McAllen, TX. Many aunts, uncles and cousins are left to live in his absence but with many warm memories of growing up Creole, hearty laughs and Zydeco. Casey was goal-oriented and determined as a young man. He was employed starting in his teenage years at Breaux’s Mini Mart, then after graduation from Northside HS in ’88 and Lafayette Regional Vo-Tech he was employed at PHI Inc. in Lafayette, LA. Soon after, he welded for McDermott in Morgan City and Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift of America in Houston, TX. He later did flowback work at FESCO Ltd. of Edinburg, TX. He became a well- tester for FMC in Lafayette, LA, Alice, San Antonio and Corpus Christi, TX then Weir Oil and Gas in San Antonio, TX. Finally, he joined Laredo ISD in Laredo, TX and worked in A/C maintenance. He was known for arriving early, working hard, being clean, meticulous, and being mechanically inclined. He was often requested and praised for his good work. It was a glorious day, July 4th; Casey praised the grand creator, Jehovah for painting the desert in shades of crimson and sculpting majestic mesas, cliffs and mountains with wild horses grazing in the Four Corners areas for humans to admire. He was amazed and in awe of Monument Valley. Casey took pictures with those in his company, his wife and friends. He collected rocks, gifted the most precious to his wife and took some to bring home for his yard. It was this very evening, suddenly, that he did not survive the heart attack that hit him in Kayenta, AZ., on the Navajo Reservation. Casey’s love for his Almighty God Jehovah, wife, family, friends, all children, horses, baseball, music, beautiful places, great food, Harleys and fast muscle cars enriched his life. He enjoyed a good Red Sox game, traveling with his wife, a cool breeze, and rain…..lots of rain. He spoke English, French Creole, some Spanish and American Sign Language. Mona will always remember a typical day for Casey was caring for his lawn, taking a break from the sun on his rocking chair with a cold drink from her, admiring the birds chirping, and waiting for kisses from Jehovah in breeze and rain. Holding hands, making plans for the future with Mona kept them focused. He will be sorely missed and never replaced. His wife and family find comfort just like him in Revelation 21:4 “And he will wipe out every tear from their eye, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. memorial service and eulogy, Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg.
