On July 31, 2015, Jeffrey Charles Unger of Edmonton passed away at the age of 61 years surrounded by his loving family, Shane, Bruce (Danielle), Larry, Dianne, Lynne (Peter) Shields, John Unger, Verna (Ron) Howard and many nieces and nephews.
As many of you know, Jeff dedicated a great portion of his life to performing, composing and administrating for Alberta Opera. His work has been seen by, and celebrated by, an unprecedented number of people, young and old, across Western Canada for decades.
We leave this song he composed with all of you who mourn this tragic loss. The song is entitled “Smile”, from Hansel and Gretel.
Days aren’t always happy
Skies aren’t always bright
Just remember a sunny morning
Always follows the night
Sometimes you find trouble
Sometimes you find pain
Just remember a shining rainbow
Only follows a rain
So smile
And say
Everything will be okay
Cause even though the clouds are gray,
They always blow away.
So laugh
And sing
You can deal with anything
Just remember the magic that a smile can bring.
Special thanks to Dr. Angela Ochs and Dr. Gordon Lees for their care and compassion.
A Celebration of Jeffrey’s Life will be held on Thursday, August 6 at 3:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2.
