Lawrence Lopes
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Melvin (Larry) Lopes on June 15, 2017, at the age of 76 years. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Doreen Lopes; mother, Hilda Winifred Lopes; son, Rick; daughters, Annabelle and Rose; step-children, John, Irma, David, Toni and Robin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as numerous brothers and sisters, Leon, Steve, Sylvia, Christopher, Greg, Vicky, Mario, Christine, Bryan, and Rose; and other relatives. He is predeceased by his father, Joseph Romeo Lopes. Lawrence was a proud member of the Whitecourt Fire Department for 32 years as the Captain of Fire Prevention. He has taught generations of children fire safety. Special thanks to the Whitecourt Healthcare Centre and staff, and a special thank you to Dr. Byers and the nursing staff. Funeral Mass Thursday, June 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 5538 Mink Creek Road, Whitecourt.
