Michele Mauro

On May 22, 2017, Michele Mauro of Edmonton passed away at the age of 96 years. Michele is survived by his loving children, Angelo (Filomena) Mauro and Franca (Nando) Zenari; six grandchildren, David (Donna), Michael (Alaina), Patricia, Fernando, Riccardo (Nicole) and Monica (Niki); nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Matteo, Alexander, Kiara, Luca, Tessa, Ella. Ava and Anya; two sisters and two brothers, Franceschina (Peter), Nella, Giuseppe (Maria) and Peter (Nella); and sister-in-law, Ermelinda; and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Predeceased by his loving wife, Ester; brother, Antonio; sisters, Rosaria, Ester (Sister Francesca), and Gemma. A thank you to all Michele’s friends and family, and a special thanks to Mary Jean and all the nursing staff and caregivers of Unit 100 at Venta Care Centre that looked after Michele and made him comfortable and treated him like family they used to call him Papa. Family and friends may pay their respects Friday, May 26 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Park Memorial Funeral Home, 9709-111 Avenue. Funeral Mass Saturday, May 27 at 9:30 a.m. at Santa Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church, 9110-110 Avenue with entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum.
