Patricia Chmilar (nee Saskiw) Obituary

It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our beloved Mother, Baba and Babi. On July 8, 2016, Patricia Louise Chmilar of Edmonton, Alberta, formerly of Beauvallon, passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the age of 76 years.


Patricia is survived by her daughter, Kathy Bell-Rabko (Ivan Rabko); son, Dennis (Candace Demers), grandchildren; Amy (Troy) Treit, Heather (Carlos) Delgado, Brendan Chmilar (Kara Maffret) and Brianne Chmilar. She was Babi to her pride and joy, her five great-grandsons, Laysan and Maro Treit, Roberto and Pablo Delgado, and Lincoln Chmilar. She will be missed by her sister, Adeline Palsitt; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Saskiw; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving husband, Nestor Chmilar (2016); parents, Harry (2004) and Annie (Chapelsky) Saskiw (2010); brother-in-law, Paul Palsitt (2012); brother, Adolph Saskiw (2015); and great-grandson, Bentley Chmilar (2015).


Prayer Service Wednesday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 7007 – 109 Street. Divine Liturgy Thursday, July 14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. Basilian Fathers officiating with interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2 or to the Dickensfield CHOICE Day Program, 14225 – 94 Street, Edmonton, AB T5E 6C6.
